Maria has a wonderful collection of taupe Japanese fabrics. The fabrics have a rich visual and tactile texture and she has blended them skillfully into a Dresden Plate quilt design. The plates are appliqued to quarter-square triangle blocks, punctuated with covered buttons in the center. This is a lovely quilt that becomes more intriguing and colorful the longer you look at it. I quilted around the plates and echoed the plate design in the setting blocks. The border has hand appliqued vine designs in the corners that I echoed and extended into the center areas. Quite a beauty!
