Karen made this wonderful log cabin quilt for her Quilter's Academy Year 1 class. Randy Silvers of Randy's Quilt Shop in Greensboro challenged her to use a single line of fabric to make her quilt. She had been making scrappy quilts for a couple of years before she began to teach this series, so it was quite different to limit herself to using just this one new line in Randy's store. The quilt in the Quilter's Academy book would have been just the red center, so she kept going, playing around with color to create borders from log cabin blocks. She's hoping her friend Augusta Cole will make, teach, and sell a pattern of the quilt.
I quilted it with a feathery block pattern and put curved cross-hatching in the corner blocks. I think it looks quite elegant!
I love your curved cross hatching! It really makes the block standout and gives it a 3 dimensional look...Very nice!
