Registration for the event is now open and all registrants are able to enter quilts into the Symposium Quilt Show. The quilt registration deadline is nearing (March 15th) and we hope you will enter one of your beautiful quilts! Note: Quilts DO NOT need to be finished by this deadline, but underway enough to submit a picture.
*More Information From the DOQ website:
Symposium will be held on May 18th to 21st at William Peace University in Raleigh, NC. William Peace University is an ideal location! The campus is compact and easy to navigate. Moving in is easy, and getting to your classes, the quilt show, the vendor mall, meals, and evening activities, a breeze.
Building friendships is one of our goals. At Symposium, you get to know other quilters from your own guild, other guilds, and even other states. Many quilters return to Symposium every year to renew these friendships. One group even has Symposium as their annual reunion! Why not ask a few friends to join you? Half the fun is the laughs you will share as you purchase “one more piece of fabric you NEED” or share what you learned that day in class. We have arranged a faculty of excellent teachers who have a wide variety of techniques to share.
Symposium is a great opportunity to try new things or to work on techniques to improve your skills. You will want to carefully review all the offerings and make your choices early to ensure a spot in the classes of your choice. A full-time student can take 12 hours of classes and a lecture. A class will be either 3 hours or 6 hours and a lecture is about 1 hour in length. Selecting and attending classes is the “building skills” part of our theme.
We will have a wonderful quilt show of quilts by Symposium registrants. We hope that everyone who registers will enter a quilt in the show. In addition, we will have a Silent Auction of small quilts to benefit a charity and these small quilts are amazing! Let us know if you plan to provide a small quilt so we can allot enough space to display them all. We also will be collecting blocks (red, white and blue) for Quilts of Valor and there will be a viewer’s choice award from these submissions.
